ads.txt

ads.txt is an IAB Tech Lab transparency standard that lets publishers publicly declare which advertising systems are authorized to sell or resell their digital inventory.

Why it matters

Buyers can use ads.txt declarations as one signal for validating authorized supply paths and reducing exposure to unauthorized inventory representations.

How it works

  1. A publisher hosts an ads.txt file on its domain.
  2. Each record identifies an advertising system, seller account and relationship type.
  3. Buyers and intermediaries crawl or ingest the file for supply validation.
